Imagine a family standing on the edge of an invisible cliff: loss of income, trauma, instability. They don’t just need help—they need a space where they are heard, supported, and empowered to not lose themselves. And this is precisely why the Charity Fund “Ridni”, in collaboration with the UK government, is launching a project that will significantly enhance the family support service at the “Ridni” Social Support Center.
What Does This Mean in Practice?
The project is not about grants — it is about real change. It is about 132 families receiving psychological and emotional support when it seemed there was no other option. Through 1,853 individual consultations, 45 group sessions, and 14 art therapy sessions, this space has developed the ability to listen and respond. And 11 supervisions, a forum, and roundtables helped the team of specialists cope with daily burnout, emerging stronger than before.
Why Does This Matter?
Supporting vulnerable families is not about giving medicine, but about creating a space.
It’s about the fact that even when everything seems broken, it is possible to bring a family back together. And that is an enormous power.
How Does It Work?
In cooperation with the Lviv City Council’s Department of Children’s Services, the project “Strengthening the Capacity of Family Support Services” has been integrated into the “Ridni” Center. This means that services are now available at the municipal level — free of charge, professional, and long-term.
Every consultation, every art session is not random support. It’s a strategic reinforcement of families who can become a foundation for their children instead of relying solely on systemic solutions.
What’s Next?
This experience exemplifies how international support and local responsibility work in tandem. And we believe that this is only the beginning. Families that receive support have a chance to stay together. And that is the best investment in the future.
